Puppies 2016

Puppies 2016

Our Emma gave birth to eight puppies on Thursday evening. The birthing went really well and was quite relaxed for the young mother.
The five boys and three girls are very well, active and drinking perfectly. Emma is taking great care of them and is constantly making sure that the little ones are clean.
The pups father is our youngster Stranz, who has just finished his first working season. Apparently he was not that exhausted, if he had time to consummate during a short, unattended break. Luckily he chose the right girl for his free-time-fun and even if it wasn’t planned from us, we are more than happy to welcome the little ones to our team.

The pups are growing up

Our seven puppies, or better teenagers, are just about eight months old now and almost fully grown.
The three boys (Bams, Bims and Tørkel) still have their fluffy winter coat, so our term “Killersheep” still applies in this case.
The youngsters are already living, in the kennels, together with their future team mates. The sooner they get to know each other the easier they will have it later on.

Winter season over

Winter season over

With our 10-day tour to the “Dreiländereck” (photos), that was blesses with sensational weather, we ended our Winter season. We are still surrounded by lots of snow and the subzero temperatures at night are responsible for perfect sledding conditions. Of course we will use this for some more private mushing tours.

We are more than happy about this seasons outcome: good snow conditions, little snow storms, highly motivated dogs and great guests, what else could we want?

Exciting tour with children mushers

Exciting tour with children mushers

Four children, between 10 and 14 years old, and five adults started, highly motivated, to a five day wilderness trip around lake Altevatn. Nine dog teams, 48 huskies in total, were all excited during the start. The children rode smaller sledges than the adults and had 3 – 4 huskies in a team. Each one of the participants had been on a huskyfarm holiday before and knew how to dog sled, but a real, several days lasting wilderness trip was new to everybody. The excitment was huge!
The nature did not appear in the best light: warm temperatures and wet snow, difficult snow conditions, a lot of wind and bad sight made wilderness wilder than we had thought.
It was outstanding how the difficulties of the tour were handled with a lot of laughter and always keeping a good mood. Everybody enjoyed the daily work with the dogs and agreed: we were on tour with the best huskies in the world.
Thanks to a wonderful crowd of people and thanks to each and every member of the group for a
wonderful time.
