Avoiding convenience foods and traditional outdoor meals.

We’d like to introduce you not only to our huskies and the mountain landscape, but also to *Scandinavian cuisine*—or, more precisely, Scandinavian food.

We take great pride in providing good food. We avoid ready-made products wherever possible. The only exception is the soup we have from a packet when we arrive at the cabin or pitch our tent. The sourdough bread served with it, however, is organic and baked in our own wood-fired stone oven at the Huskyfarm

Since in winter we’re practically travelling through one big freezer, we can easily bring high-quality ingredients without worrying about them spoiling along the way. All dinners are either freshly prepared on site or cooked in advance at our restaurant on the Huskyfarm and then frozen.

We generally use *meat from our own animals*—for example, pigs and chickens. We source moose meat from local hunters, reindeer meat from local Sámi, and beef, lamb and goat from farmers in the region. We also make all our own cold cuts for our tours and restaurant.

We source sea fish from the waters off our coast, while freshwater fish come from our lake and the surrounding lakes.

We consciously avoid salmon: we’re concerned about industrial salmon farming, and wild salmon is under serious threat. That’s why we’ve chosen not to serve it.

In summer, Anne grows a lot of vegetables, which we rely on for as long as possible. In winter, we need to buy some additional vegetables, but the potatoes are always home-grown. We also love foraging in the wild for Scandinavian cloudberries, raspberries and blueberries—and, of course, mushrooms.

All our baked goods are organic and homemade. We bake our bread with sourdough and Scandinavian organic flour.

All meals before and after the tour are served at our farm restaurant, where the focus is also on local ingredients and homemade food.

We also have well-established routines and suitable dishes for vegetarians and vegans, as well as guests with food intolerances. We’re happy to include them in the meal plan, both at the restaurant and on tour. Please let us know when booking so we can plan and pack everything in advance.
