Day tours can be booked online as part of a Huskyfarm vacation or a Family vacation at the farm. Simply select the number of activity days.
Day tours without an additional package can be booked via our booking tool.
As a guest on our farm, there are various ways to eat and drink.
We have a small restaurant. Every stay on the farm includes a hearty breakfast, including the option of packing a packed lunch. You can also order a freshly prepared dinner in advance. Each meal must be ordered at least two days before arrival. As we are only a small team, our restaurant is not open all year round. The opening times and all prices can be found here. Alcoholic drinks can be purchased in the restaurant.
In addition, each hut and the guest house has a fully equipped kitchen. The nearest shopping is in Setermoen (approx. 40 min drive). There are two supermarkets (Mon.-Sat. 7-23h) and a small supermarket (Bunnpris) which is also open on Sundays.
Guests who have booked a husky farm vacation or a family vacation on the farm can also send us a shopping list before their stay if they are unable to do their shopping due to time constraints. On the way from the airport to the farm we also pass a supermarket.
In winter, of course, the focus is on sleigh rides with our dogs. Day tours and tours lasting several days* can be booked via our website. But there is also a lot to discover and experience on the farm. For example, we rent out small sleds, skis for cross-country skiing or ice fishing.
Here you can find detailed information
You can also experience a lot here in the summer. In contrast to winter, the dogs take it a little easier here. So we can only train them when it’s below 10°C.
The farm is surrounded by untouched nature. It is therefore advisable to plan in a little time to soak up the quietness of the Norwegian mountain landscape. You can go hiking in the mountains, visit a small canyon, go climbing, fishing, canoeing, cycling, or swimming in the lake directly on site.

Yes, the Northern Lights can be in the sky when it is dark and cloud-free. This is theoretically possible here from the end of September to the end of March. Seeing strong northern lights is a bit like seeing shooting stars: You have to take your time. If you sit in the snow a little away from the farm on a cloud-free evening, you certainly have a good chance of seeing the phenomenon with a bit of luck.
On our multi-day dog sledding tours, we are always far away from any light pollution, so we can create some very impressive moments if the conditions are right.
In principle, anyone can drive their own dog sled. However, if you are a little unsure, you can also sit on the guide sled or another guest’s sled on day tours.
On our multi-day tours, everyone must drive their own team with 5-7 dogs.
Incidentally, children (from approx. 5 years) can also drive their own sled team as part of our family vacation. An experience that can create a special trust between child and dog.
That depends very much on the weather conditions and the length of the tour.
On day tours between 2 and 4 dogs pull a sled with one person.
On multi-day tours, everyone* gets between 5 and 7 dogs.
*Day tours
We can provide plenty of assistance on day tours. If you are unsure, you can also ride on the sledge or share it with another guest.
However, sledging tours are generally more strenuous than you might think, as it takes a lot of strength and coordination to get the dogs on the sled and then drive through the forest.
*Multi-day tours
On multi-day sledding tours, each guest takes over their own team with 5-7 dogs and is jointly responsible for them during the tour. As we are often on untracked paths in winter, we often have to help the dogs, the sleds are correspondingly heavy and the terrain is not always easy.
To make it a little easier, we have a preparation day before each tour, which helps to get used to the dogs and the work.
However, even the easiest multi-day tour involves medium physical exertion. The more athletic the musher (dog sled driver), the more fun you will have. Above all, arm strength and endurance sports are an advantage.
Basically, the following applies: moderate athleticism is sufficient, moderate unathleticism is not enough.
You can find everything about our equipment for multi-day dog sledding tours here
On the farm we provide thick winter boots, overalls and, if necessary, gloves/hat.
Our multi-day sledding tours are always fully booked very quickly, so we recommend that you don’t wait too long before booking. Every autumn we put new multi-day tours online for the following year.
Private tours can also be requested.
Booking a day trip is possible via our booking tool.
If you’re not sure whether a multi-day tour is right for you, it’s worth getting a taste of dog sledding first. This is great as part of a Huskyfarm vacation at our farm. Here you can enjoy all the benefits of a cabin and use the day to get to know the dogs better and learn how to sled on day trips.
If you are looking for a little more adventure and are sure that the physical strain is not too high, we recommend a 5 + 3 day tour. Ideally in March or April, when the weather is more stable.
Own car: It is also possible to arrive by car in winter. The road to our farm is open and clear all year round. As the road conditions are often very icy in winter, it is advisable to have studded tires.
Rental car: We cannot lend cars to guests on the farm. Rental cars are available at all airports. These usually come with studded tires and are suitable for driving to the farm.
In general, you must always be prepared for the weather conditions on-site and possibly plan for significantly longer travel times. Mountain roads in particular can be closed in winter in bad weather.
Information on closed roads can be found here
